The Graun reminds us that Iain(who?) Gray actually is Scottish Labour Leader.

.

What are they so scared of?

I posted on a Graun article by Iain Gray.
The article was a stinging attack on Alex Salmond.

A bit over the top, I thought.

Second thought : 'Who the fuck is Iain Gray?'

Now, you may say that a politically aware Merkin should have been immediately aware that Iain Gray is Scottish Labour leader.

Well, yes. Well, no.

Mr Gray has obviously not ingrained himself in my psyche sufficient to blot out the awful memory of Wendy, Jack the Kilt and 'taxi-for' McLeish - as rum a bunch of corrupt politicians as ever made a parcel of rogues.

So, in view of my difficulties, I presumed that many others would have the same memory hole.

'I had to push the profile button to remind myself who Iain Gray actually is'

Nothing untrue there.

Still, I was moderated.

Deleted.

Cast into the Black Hole of Orwellian Nothingness that sees CP Scott spinning in his grave next to me.

Now, why was the fall of Western Civilisation averted by Merkin's sad demise on that day?

Of course!!
I had also committed the arch sin of quoting Iain Gray (who?) in my post.

'Although he may not look it, he's been found out to be a lightweight who is just not up to the job.'

That explains it.

Anyway, to the implication in my having quoted Iain (who?) Gray's words.

A lightweight?

If Iain (who?) Gray speaks out against renewal of Trident, imposition of ID cards, dumping of nuclear waste near my house - nimby that i am - and a host of other major issues then he could be considered a heavyweight.

Till then Salmond is the only one punching above his weight.

A fighter who appears to be threatening to Nu-Lab and Mandy Graun and friends.

PS Is there anyone else who is reminded of Titus Groan's Steerpike whenever they see or hear Jim Murphy, Secretary of State for Scotland?

'Limb by limb, it appeared that he was sound enough, but the sum of these several members accrued to an unexpectedly twisted total. His face was pale like clay and save for his eyes, mask-like. These eyes were set very close together, and were small, dark red, and of startling concentration'

Personality, to boot.

'If ever he had harboured a conscience in his tough narrow breast he had by now dug out and flung away the awkward thing - flung it so far away that were he ever to need it again he could never find it. High-shouldered to a degree little short of malformation, slender and adroit of limb and frame, his eyes close-set and the colour of dried blood, . . . '

I am sure the Graun would delete that if I posted it.

Yet, originally, all I said was 'Who the fuck is Iain Gray?'

.

Why are you so anti Labour?

Surely you must remember Thatcher and her cronies are no better than Cameron and the Eton mob.

As Hazel Blears said, you have never stood for power so you can not criticise with any authority.

Anonymous, they are kinda hard to love, no?

I had to push the profile button to figure out who Jim Murphy was. Apposite comparison to Steerpike, though. And who IS Iain Gray? I just can't seem to remember.

I'm loving Anonymous' channelling of Hazel Bleugh - yeah, right, she's the fount of all wisdom.

I find it impossible to think of Hazel Blears as a sentient being such is the robotic nature of her pleadings.
Stll, there must be some who do like her - deluded fools that they are.

Silenthunter pointed out a grevious error made by SpinAndBull in his analysis of our situation.

S&B had said 'There is no alternative to Gordon Brown'.

Usually, I can find an amount to agree with from S&B.

Not this time.

However,I am sure, such blind allegience is not unique to him.

Merkin said...

In fact, it was closer to 'Brown is the only man for the job' - to make that a bit clearer.

I would indeed hope that Gordon Brown is the only specimen of his kind in existence, and that in that sense there is no alternative to him.

The thought of a front bench stuffed with Gordon Brown clones is too horrible to contemplate.

Too late, that is what you have had.

Jose said...

LOL, friends. The problem here is that too many clones are rising from too many sources.

We must blame economics for it, musn't we?

Wot you lot need is a leader.

How about Ed Spins? He couldn't talk any more balls than Brown and the other Eds.

Oh I forgot - Mandy and Ally C are them wot spins for ZanuLabour.

Reminds me of the old riddle: "Why is a mouse when it spins?" I never understood the answer, which was "the higher the fewer".

A meaningless answer for a meaningless question.

Merkin said...

Jose, you said it better than I understood GrumpyAunt.

Jeeez, Oh.

However, point well taken, antony.

Jose said...

Sorry to disappoint you, Merkin, but those are not my words. Found that explanation in a quotations site.

That's just reminded me about Wee Dougie's sister Wendy. Where is she and what is she up to these days? Anybody?

subrosa said...

Merkin put a comment up with the explanation you gave on my comment site. Then of course, nobody could be confused except pensioners like me :)

Merkin said...

Mary, it seems Wendy is auditioning for 'I used to be Scottish Leader Get Me Back In The Trough, pretty please'.

SubRosa : Done.

Thanx for popping in, both of you.

Not Steerpike. Lurch, surely!
